Announcement: Latest Advisory for Travelers to Malaysia

LATEST ADVISORY FOR TRAVELERS TO MALAYSIA

Please be informed that effective from 20 July 2020, all Malaysian citizens and non-citizens (with entry permission) entering Malaysia are obliged to adhere to the following requirements:

1. All travelers are required to undergo COVID-19 test screening (Polimerase Chain Reaction – PCR) three (3) days prior to the departure date, with confirmed negative results, to adhere to most airlines’ requirements and to avoid complications such as being prevented from boarding the flight. The COVID-19 test result or certified medical report (in Malay or English language only) must be presented to the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) staff upon arrival at the airport in Malaysia. Depending on the validity and acceptability of the test result or certified medical report, MOH may require travelers to undergo further COVID-19 testing upon arrival at the airport. 2. In certain circumstances, such as involving an emergency situation or health issues, Malaysian citizens may submit a request to the Malaysian Director-General of Immigration for exemption from taking the COVID-19 test before departing for Malaysia. Only Malaysian citizens with expressed approval by the Malaysian Director-General of Immigration will be exempted from taking the COVID-19 test before departure. The exemption request can be sent via email to the Malaysian Department of Immigration at following address: pbh@imi.gov.my.

3. Upon arrival in Malaysia, all travelers are required to undergo 14-day self quarantine, either at home or hotel, and will be fitted with a quarantine wristband to be worn throughout the quarantine period, in accordance with the Order For Supervision And Observation At Home For Contact of 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Infection Under Section 15(1) Prevention And Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988 (Act 342).  Those found in violation of the Order can be subject to a penalty under Section 24 of Act 342.

4. All travelers are required to download, register, and activate MySejahtera online application before entering Malaysia. The application can be downloaded through the URL link at: https://mysejahtera.malaysia.gov.my;
