Patron of the ASEAN Women Circle Los Angeles (AWCLA) Malaysia, Madam Ramlah Hamid hosted the final event of AWCLA for the year 2013 at the Consul General of Malaysia's residence in San Marino, California on Tuesday, 12 November 2013. The event was held in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia Los Angeles (TMLA) with the theme ‘The Colors of Malaysia’.
TMLA Cultural Group performed three Malay dances namely Zapin, Inang and Cak Gun Cak. Guests were later invited to enjoy Malaysian delicacies prepared by Perwakilan members. In addition, Patrons from the respective AWCLA member countries i.e. Indonesia, Philippine and Thailand had also brought their respective home cook dishes to share with the guests.
A fundraising had also been held during the event for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda which had recently hit the Philippines. A total of US$ 1,857.00 had been collected and was handed over by all the AWCLA Patrons to the Consul General of the Philippines, Madam Helen de la Vega, who is also the Patron of the Philippines at the end of the program. The Consul General Malaysia in Los Angeles, Mr. Nekmat Ismail was also present during the event.
