NOTICE
EARTHQUAKE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, DECEMBER 20, 2022
Earlier today, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook parts of Northern California. According to US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at 2.34 am near Ferndale, a small community about 213 miles (345 kilometers) northwest of San Francisco and close to the Pacific coast. The temblor was followed by at least two dozen aftershocks -the strongest registered at a magnitude of 4.6, several minutes after the initial quake. No tsunami was expected.
Malaysian Consulate has contacted MIDA Office in San Jose and Malaysian Professionals in Bay Area (MPBA) in San Francisco. No Malaysians have been reported to be affected by the earthquake.
Malaysian Consulate would like to advise all Malaysians in the affected areas to stay informed on the developments of the earthquake.
