The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Malaya (UM) Student Affairs, Professor Datuk Dr. Rohana Yusof led a team of four officials and one student for a 6-day working visit to Los Angeles, California. The visit took place from 13-18 May 2014. The objective was to benchmark the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and University of Southern California (USC) in regards to infrastructure and facilities provided for their students. The team indeed stayed and experienced the facilities provided by UCLA.
The opportunity to experience the expertise and facilities provided by both universities had been beneficial to the team who has been tasked to empower UM students to optimize their academic and personal potential in a stimulating, caring and supportive campus environment as well as to nurture, develop and guide students to face challenges in the competitive environment.
The working visit also includes discussion over dinner hosted by the Consul General of Malaysia in Los Angeles, Mr. Nekmat Ismail and wife on Thursday, 15 May 2014 at the Consul General’s official residence in San Marino, California. Also present during the dinner was Mrs. Syarifah Hasniza Syed Hassan Al Mashoor, Vice Consul Education Malaysia Los Angeles.
