Visa Exemption for Nationals of the People’s Republic of China and Indian Nationals

Effective December 1, 2023 until December 31, 2024, nationals of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of India are granted a 30-day visa exemption to enter Malaysia for purposes of tourism, business, or visiting family and friends.

Please note the following conditions:

  • The exemption is valid for a stay of up to 30 days only.
  • The exemption is non-extendable and non-convertible to other types of passes.
  • Travelers must hold a valid passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months from the date of entry.
  • Travelers may be required to show proof of sufficient funds and confirmed return or onward ticket upon arrival.

All travelers are required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three (3) days prior to arrival in Malaysia.

 

A. Required documents:-

1. Completed and signed Visa Application form (IM.47)

2. Applicant’s original passport (with at least six months validity) and a copy of the passport (particulars/first page)

3. Copy of applicant’s Permanent Resident card or valid US visa (B1/B2 tourist visas are not accepted)

4. For the return postage – provide one (1) prepaid Priority Mail Express Flat Rate Envelope (USD33.40) available from your local U.S. Postal Service

5. One (1) recent U.S. passport size photograph (2x2)

6. Copy of confirmed flight itinerary showing dates of arrival and departure to and from Malaysia

7. Copy of hotel reservation or proof of accommodation in Malaysia

8. Copy of employment letter (or any other proof of employment or proof of school enrollment)

     

B. Fees:-

The payment must be in cashier’s check or money order made payable to “Consulate General of Malaysia”

  • USD$18.00 for India passport
  • USD$14.00 for Taiwan passport
  • USD$3.00 United States of America Passport
  • USD$10.00 China Passport
  • USD$10.00 for U.S Travel Document
  • USD $5.00 for Bolivia, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
  • USD$10.00 for all other nationalities; and
  • USD $13.00 for Card IMM. 108C

 

C. Mail-in Applications

 Please send your complete application package to the following address:

Note:

1. Visa applications must be submitted at least two weeks prior to date of travel.

2. The processing time is three (3) – five (5) business days after the date of submission.

3. Visa applications for business travels can be submitted using visa service agency and visa applications for tourism can only be accepted in person or by mail.

4. List of foreign nationals who require Visa to enter Malaysia can be found here.

5. Holders of Malaysian visas are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and therefore their entry into Malaysia is not guaranteed.

6. Failure to comply with the requirement will delay the process and Consulate General will not hold responsible for any delay to your travel arrangement.
