MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: On 16 November 2018, the Consulate General of Malaysia in New York has organized an Open Day 2018 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the UN. The Open Day started from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.
The main objectives of the Open Day 2018 programme are to share information on the roles and functions of the Consulate and the other Malaysian Agencies in New York mainly Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Immigration Department. Additionally, the Open Day provided an excellent platform to foster closer relations between the Consulate and Malaysians residing in the Tri-State area.
The programme started with a brief welcoming remarks by the Consul General which was then followed by a panel discussion. Each representative from MATRADE, MIDA, Immigration Department and the Consulate took the opportunity to give a short briefing which then followed by a Q&A answer.
Each Agencies also provided informational desk for additional inquiries as well as providing informational materials.
Most attendees expressed their appreciation to the Consulate for hosting the event and its efforts in reaching out to the Malaysians in the Tri-State area. They are hopeful that such event could be expanded and brought to nearby cities to enable more participations from Malaysians.
