Bergen County's Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: On 22 May 2019, Mr. Jeremiah Oliver Jitos, the Consul General of Malaysia in New York was invited to deliver a keynote at the Bergen County’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration in Hackensack, New Jersey.

The celebration was organized by the Bergen County to celebrate the Asian American and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month.  It was also an opportunity for the community to commemorate the achievements and contributions of the Asian people and Pacific Islander around New Jersey.

Mr. Kirby Tan, a Malaysian who resides in Bergen County, New Jersey was awarded with the “Outstanding Community Service Award” by the County of Bergen, as a recognition of his works to the community.

The event also showcased cultural programmes with colourful dance performances, as well as large varieties of Asian food.  The cultural programmes and the food were contributed by various Asian organizations, businesses and individuals from Bergen County.
