ANNUAL DINNER

The new Consul General of Malaysia in New York, Mr. Mohd Zamruni Khalid, attended a dinner hosted by the Malaysia Association of America (MAA) to celebrate Malaysia’s 51^st year of Independence on 30^th August 2008, in which he was invited to give a short speech.

In his speech, the Consul General congratulated the Committee and Board members of MAA for organizing the event and the Merdeka Cup tournament, which was held earlier on that day with the participation of several ex-national players.  He also thanked the MAA for their initiative and efforts in getting the New York State Assembly to declare 31^st August 2008 as Malaysian American Day. 

The Consul General also called upon all Malaysians to remain united by saying that in solidarity there is strength.  He further stated that he wishes to see the Consulate General and all Malaysians, especially MAA, working hand in hand to ensure that the interests of the Malaysian community are taken care of.
