On Wednesday, 13 September 2006, the Hon. Dato' Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad, Minister of Home Affairs, launched the new MRP2 passport machine at the Consulate General of Malaysia in New York.
New York is among six (6) posts abroad where this new passport MRP2 machine has been stationed. Others include London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canberra and Jakarta.
The launching of the machine was significant in that applicants would no longer have to wait for months to receive their new passport. Thus, installation of the machine is a manifestation of the seriousness of the government to enhance the public delivery system.
