PROMOTING MALAYSIA'S WORLD ICT WEEK

The Consulate coordinated a dialogue session between YB Dato’ Kong Cho Ha, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the officers from the various home-based agencies including MIDA, MATRADE, Tourism Malaysia and MAS recently.  Mr. Sadik Gany, the Consul General welcomed YB Deputy Minister and his delegation and officials from the home based agencies.

 

According to the Deputy Minister, the purpose of the dialogue was to provide information on the World ICT Week, its core and satellite events which Malaysia would host in May 2008.  On the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008), the aim is to position Malaysia as a major ICT player and the preferred global hub and gateway to Asia.  The WCIT is the world’s biggest gathering of policy makers and ICT industry professionals which would gather more than 2500 delegates coming from more than 80 countries. 

 

The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that the officials from the home based agencies would helped to market WCIT 2008 to respective networks to join as sponsors, exhibitors and delegates.  Encik Sadik, in wrapping up the session, believed officials from the home based agencies would give their utmost support in promoting and marketing the WIW and WCIT 2008 as it will augur well for Malaysia.
