On 15 August 2023, Malaysian Ambassador to the United States, Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz and his wife Datin Seri Haflin hosted an intimate get together with Washington D.C.’s key diplomatic players at His Excellency’s official residence - the over 100 years old, ‘Rumah Malaysia’. Notable guests include former UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and doyenne of Washington's social and public diplomatic scene, Esther Coopersmith.
This event dubbed as “An Evening with Friends of Malaysia featuring internationally acclaimed Malaysian Mentalist, Kabir Khan” aims to strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two nations. This is in part of celebrating the 66th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries and deepen the relationship with Malaysia’s third largest trading partner.
As a former tourism Minister, Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz once again places Malaysia in the hearts and minds of the international community through the spirit of Malaysian hospitality. As the current Ambassador of Malaysia to the U.S., Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz continues to explore new ways and novelties in substantiating the Malaysia - U.S. Comprehensive Partnership which will enter its 10th year anniversary in 2024. This time, he introduced a one-of-a-kind experience involving the power of the mind.
Guests were treated to a special evening of Mentalism Experience with the "magic" of Kabir Khan – Malaysia’s very own renowned psychic performer and internationally acclaimed Malaysian Mentalist, who was a personal guest of His Excellency the Ambassador. In addition, guests were also serenaded by the piano solo of New York based pianist, Bryan Eng. The special evening was complemented with a showcase of the classic “pulling tea” of the Teh Tarik, and Nasi Dagang Terengganu.
The event was part of the Embassy's ongoing public diplomacy efforts to enhance people-to-people contacts with various parties of interest in the U.S.
