The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington, D.C., Mr. Ilango Karuppannan hosted a Deepavali Celebration reception on 31 October 2008.
The Embassy staff and Malaysians living in and around Washington, D.C. were invited to the event. In his remarks, CDA a.i said that this one of the many “Program Mendampingi Rakyat Malaysia” undertaken by the Malaysian government. In this context, the Embassy had hosted programmes such as Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday and Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. More than 80 people that consisted of family and friends of the Malaysian community attended the Deepavali celebration. Guests of the celebration came mostly from the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia area.
