The Embassy of Malaysia held a reception to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of Malaysia’s independence and the 56th anniversary of the formation of the Federation of Malaysia. More than 250 people attended the reception, hosted by H.E. Dato Azmil Zabidi, Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States. Mr. David Stilwell, Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian, and Pacific Affairs of the United States Department of State and Mr. Ted McKinney, the Undersecretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs of the US Department of Agriculture, attended the reception as the guests of honour. Others who attended include ambassadors and diplomats from foreign missions in Washington D.C., as well as representatives from various U.S. government agencies, the business community, think-tanks, academia, members of the press and civil society organizations.
