5 May 2018, Washington DC : The Embassy of Malaysia opened its doors to the public for the Passport DC: Around The World Embassy Tour 2018 on 5 May 2018 (Saturday) from 10.00am to 4.00pm. More than 6,000 people visited the Embassy of Malaysia in conjunction with the event. The annual program organized by Cultural Tourism DC gives the public a chance to "travel the world' as they visit participating embassies and experience the food, art, culture, music, innovations and manufactured goods from different countries. The Embassy was abuzz with food stalls selling all types of authentic Malaysian delicacies, promotional booths and a showcase of cultural performances, martial arts, traditional games and handicrafts. Visitors had the chance to sample Nasi Lemak, Satay, Char Kuey Tiow, Mee Goreng Mamak, Karipap, Roti Canai, Burger Rendang, and various Kuih-muih among others. They even had the chance to taste Musang King Durian! The highlight of the cultural performance this year was the showcase of a traditional Malay wedding ceremony. The Embassy also screened classic P. Ramlee movies. Visitors were also impressed by the promotional booths promoting Malaysian products and services. Seven Malaysian ministries and agencies took part in this year’s Passport DC namely the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries (MOA), the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), the Malaysian Palm Oil Board and Council (MPOB/C), Tourism Malaysia, Education Malaysia and Telekom Malaysia.
