On 1 September 2025, the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington, D.C. hosted the 68th National Day Celebration (Sambutan Hari Kebangsaan ke-68) for the Malaysian diaspora in the United States at the Embassy.
The celebration featured the flag-raising ceremony of the Jalur Gemilang along with the national anthem Negaraku, a choir performance of Keranamu Malaysia, the recital of the national pledge Rukun Negara, followed by the remarks by the Ambassador. Subsequently, everyone enjoyed the buffet of local Malaysian delicacies and the opportunity to interact with one another.
In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Tan Sri Shahrul Ikram praised the patriotism and love for Malaysia as shown by Malaysians across the United States. He encouraged Malaysians abroad to reflect on the country’s journey, uphold its good name, and continue promoting Malaysia’s rich multicultural values.
