U.S.-ASEAN BUSINESS COUNCIL HOSTS WELCOME LUNCHEON FOR MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR

On 19 June 2012, the U.S.-Malaysia Committee of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) hosted a welcome luncheon for His Excellency Datuk Othman Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to the U.S. Mr. Alexander Feldman, President of the USABC, provided welcoming remarks while Prosser Stirling, Senior Director for Global Development at Oracle and Chair of the USABC U.S.-Malaysia Committee, provided an introduction of the Malaysian Ambassador. 
 
Among the companies represented at the luncheon were ACE Group, AT&T, Boeing, ConocoPhillips, Ford, GE, Guardian Industries, Microsoft, Motorola Solutions, Oracle, Westinghouse, Aerospace Industries Association and officials from the Malaysian Embassy and USABC. 
 
In his remarks, H.E. Datuk Othman Hashim thanked USABC for hosting the luncheon and spoke on recent bilateral relations between Malaysia and the U.S., trade and economic issues such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership as well as welcomed any questions or concerns the U.S. companies present may have concerning Malaysia. He also highlighted the important contribution made by the USABC in promoting Malaysia among U.S. companies and the corporate sector and expressed his hope that the USABC would continue to play an important role in promoting U.S. trade and investment to Malaysia. 
 
There was a robust question and answer session which followed the luncheon on topics such as the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), Government Transformation Programme (GTP), the upcoming general elections in Malaysia, the South China Sea issue and UNCLOS.
