8—13 February 2019, Washington DC : YB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Member of Parliament (Port Dickson) and President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) visited Washington D.C. to deliver talks at several institutes namely, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) in Virginia; the Embassy of Canada, in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Georgetown University in Washington D.C. In his talks, Dato’ Seri Anwar stated that democracy is more than merely holding elections but instead requires fair access to the media, an independent judiciary accountability good governance and transparency.
