Ambassador Abdul Aziz Harun paid a courtesy call on H.E. Matlyubov Bahodir Ahmedovich, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan on 25th January 2010 at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

 

The purpose of the Meeting was to exchange views and discuss a number of issues of bilateral interest between the two countries. In particular, Ambassador Abdul Aziz Harun and H.E. Matlyubov Bahodir Ahmedovich had constructive and fruitful discussion on the proposed negotiation on the Visa Abolition Agreement between Malaysia and Uzbekistan and the proposed visit in the near future of the delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan to Malaysia to study the Malaysian experience on introducing biometrical passports.

 

Both sides also exchanged views on the structure and functioning of the respective Ministries of Internal Affairs of both Malaysia and Uzbekistan and noted that there were many similarities in a number of areas of activities of the respective law enforcement, penitentiary and justice system agencies of the two countries. Both sides also expressed their willingness to continue to work closely in the future and strengthen the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries including in the field of capacity building and training for mutual benefit of the two countries.
