Y.A.A. Tun Arifin Zakaria, the Chief Justice of Malaysia, visited Uzbekistan at the invitation of the Office of the Chief Justice of Uzbekistan and UNDP Office in Uzbekistan from 16th to 20th September 2013 to attend an “International Conference on the Introduction of Electronic Court Practices in Uzbekistan’s Justice System and International Experience”. The conference took place in Tashkent and Bukhara cities. During the conference session in Bukhara Y.A.A. Tun Arifin Zakaria delivered a keynote address on the development of electronic court system in Malaysia. Mrs. Hamidah binti Mohamed Deril, the Head of the E-Court Department of the Chief Justice Office of Malaysia accompanied Y.A.A. Tun Arifin Zakaria during his visit to Uzbekistan.
Justices from US, South Korea, Estonia and a few other EU member countries also attended the conference.
Besides attending the above conference and bilateral meetings with the senior representatives of the Judiciary System of Uzbekistan including Chief Justice Buritosh Mustafaev and Chairman of the Supreme Economic Court of Uzbekistan Mr. Kamilov M. Y.A.A. Tun Arifin Zakaria also had bilateral meetings with the Speakers of the two Chambers of the Uzbek Parliament i.e. Legislative Chamber and the Senate.
