16072025 His Excellency Ilham Tuah Illias, Ambassador of Malaysia, received a courtesy call from a delegation representing Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The visit formed part of a strategic initiative to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of higher education between Malaysia and Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the UPSI delegation conducted a preliminary site assessment and held constructive discussions with the Embassy on the proposed framework and implementation strategies for the establishment of the Malaysia-Uzbekistan Higher Education Consortium.
The consortium is envisioned to foster academic collaboration, promote student and staff mobility, facilitate joint research initiatives, and support capacity-building programmes between higher education institutions of both countries. The official launch of the consortium is tentatively scheduled for October 2025, representing a significant step forward in advancing educational ties and fostering closer people-to-people relations between Malaysia and Uzbekistan.
