The Embassy of Malaysia in Tashkent, Uzbekistan wishes to extend our utmost gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency Fazilov Gayrat Ganievich, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan for spending his time to visit our Chancery on 14 September 2017 and signing the condolence book for the passing of His Royal Highness Al-Mu'tassimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of the State of Kedah. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the Ambassadors and Members of the Diplomatic Corps in Tashkent who came and signed the condolence book which was opened for three days from 12 to 14 September 2017.
His Royal Highness Sultan Abdul Halim ascended the throne of Kedah after the demise of his father, Sultan Badlishah on 4 July 1958. He was installed as the Sultan of Kedah on 20 February 1959.
His Royal Highness was the only sultan to serve as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia) twice, from 1970 to 1975 and 2011 to 2016. His second tenure ended on 12 December last year.
His Royal Highness Sultan Abdul Halim passed away on 11 September 2017 at the age of 89.
