IFTAR (BREAKING FAST) HOSTED FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION (OIC) HEADS OF MISSION BASED IN TASHKENT BY THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA ON 26 AUGUST, 2011
Ambassador Abd. Aziz Harun, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an IFTAR for 25 of OIC Heads of Mission based in Tashkent on 26 August 2011. Apart of OIC member countries Heads of Mission, H.E. Norov Vladimir Imamovich, the First Deputy Minister of Uzbekistan and 2 other officers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Mr. Abdurazzok Yunusov, Deputy Mufti of Uzbekistan were also attended the function.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Abdul Aziz welcomed H.E. Norov, Deputy Mufti and all of OIC Heads of Mission attending the function. He further expressed his hope that the IFTAR function not only serve as avenue to all of the OIC Heads of Mission based in Tashkent to meet during the holy month of Ramadhan and at the same time to take the opportunity to exchange views on the current political, economic, social development of Uzbekistan and also OIC member countries.
Ambassador Abdul Aziz in his remarks said that Malaysia attaches great importance of her relation and cooperation with OIC member countries including in Central Asia. He recalled that the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib Tun Hj. Abdul Razak had made an official visits to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in the middle of this year, the said visits clearly shows our commitment in enhancing and deepen bilateral relations with the OIC member countries in Central Asia. Ambassador Abdul Aziz further stated that bilateral relations between Malaysia and Uzbekistan has already well established and deepen since the inception of bilateral relations in 1992. Malaysia and Uzbekistan relations have been covering wide area of cooperation i.e. in politics, economic, social, trade, investment, tourism, higher education, protecting culture heritage and others. Ambassador Abdul Aziz has also took the opportunity to congratulate the government and the peoples of Uzbekistan in celebrating its 20th Anniversary Independence Day which will be held on 1st September, 2011. He further hope the celebration will be celebrated in peace and joyful by the peoples of Uzbekistan. Ambassador Abdul Aziz believes that the OIC new name from `the Organization of Islamic Conference’ to the `Organization of Islamic Cooperation’ will reflects the dynamism in the organization and hope under Kazakhstan able Chairmanship, OIC will be able to achieve some of its objective.
While in his reply remark, H.E. Norov, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Uzbekistan conveyed his and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan appreciation to Ambassador Abdul Aziz in inviting him and his officers to the function. H.E. Norov appreciate the positive contribution of Malaysian government in OIC especially the leadership role and several Malaysia political, economic and social initiatives in OIC which led for the betterment of the Organization. He also took the opportunity to convey his best wishes to Malaysia and its peoples in the occasion of the 54th Anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia which will be celebrated on 31st August, 2011.
