President of the Senate of Malaysian Parliament visits Uzbekistan

The President of the Senate of Malaysia Y.B. Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang and his seventeen-member delegation consisting of fellow senators, spouses and two businessmen made an official visit to Uzbekistan from 17th to 21st October 2013 at the invitation of the Senate of Uzbekistan. The visit was a return visit to the official visit of H.E. Ilgizar Sobir, the Chairman of the Senate of Uzbekistan, to Malaysia in late February 2013.

 

During the visit Y.B Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang held meetings with the Speakers of both Chambers of Uzbek Parliament i.e. Senate and Legislative Chamber. Apart from that, the delegation also had a round-table discussion at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan which was attended by the representatives of the various business entities.

During the meetings with the two Speakers Y.B Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang hailed the warm and friendly relations and fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various areas including trade, economic cooperation, investments, tourism, higher education, culture and arts and others. He also expressed his hope that the existing warm relations between the legislatures of the two countries both the House of Representatives of Malaysia and the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan and the Senates of the two countries would further cement the close ties between the two countries.

 

Overall, the visit to Uzbekistan by Y.B Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang and his delegation was successful furthering and enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially between the Parliaments of the two countries.
