SIXTH SPECIAL JOINT COMMISSION MEETING BETWEEN
BISHKEK,

The meeting endorsed the need to enhance cooperation on economic, social, trade and investment as well as in the area of capacity building. The specific areas of cooperation which have been identified include Islamic banking and finance, science and technology and ICT, standards, halal industry promotion, tourism, health and education. The Malaysian side was led by Y. Bhg, Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob, Director General of Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department and the other members of the delegation include Ambassador Abd Aziz Harun, Malaysian Ambassador to Kyrgyz Republic based in Tashkent and senior officials from Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Ministry of Science Technology Innovation (MOSTI), Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Small and Medium Industry Development Corporation (SMIDEC), Halal Development Corporation (HDC), Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM).

While in Bishkek, the Malaysian delegation was given the opportunity to meet the leaders from the Kyrgyz side including the Prime Minister, Honorable Igor Chudinov and two deputy ministers. During the courtesy call, Honorable Prime Minister Chudinov requested the Head of the Malaysian delegation to convey his congratulatory remarks on the appointment of Y.A.B. Datuk Seri Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak as the Sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia. Malaysian officials will also participate in the Investment Forum which will be hosted by the Kyrgyz Republic Chamber of Commerce.
At the end of the Meeting, both leaders of delegation agreed to take follow-up action on various issues that has been agreed upon during the meeting. It is expected that more exchange of visit between the two countries officials will be made in the near future in realizing the objectives of the Special Joint Commission Meeting.
