Report on the Special Trip for foreign Ambassadors and diplomats based in Tashkent to Malaysia, 12-20 October 2009
The Embassy of Malaysia in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan has organized the special visit programme for the foreign Ambassadors and diplomats based in Tashkent to Malaysia recently.
The visit took place from 12th to 20th October 2009, whereby 21 foreign diplomats together with their spouses and other family members from 7 different countries, including 5 Ambassadors, 2 Charge de’ Affairs and 1 Attache’ participated in the programme. The participants included from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Poland, Slovak Republic, Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
The programme was initiated by the Embassy of Malaysia in Tashkent with the support of Tourism Malaysia. The visit programme included the group visits to Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and Langkawi.
The programme of the visit also included visit/meeting and briefing by the officers of the Putrajaya Development Corporation, PETRONAS headquarters, Tourism Malaysia, Malacca State Government and Langkawi Development Corporation (LADA). The visit programme is at the aim to expose the members of the delegation on Malaysia economic development and tourism potentials.
In general, the visit has been successful in exposing the participants to the uniqueness of Malaysia’s multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society, participants were fascinated to be given an opportunity to take part in the special programme which is also a pioneer programme initiated by a foreign Embassy in Uzbekistan.
Most of the participants were amazed on how the multi-racial society could live together in peace, harmony and prosperity. The delegation also admitted that Malaysia has many tourism attractions such as unique multi-ethnic culture, beautiful tropical rainforest i.e. Berjaya Hill Resorts, fascinating white sand beaches such as in Langkawi and huge and modern shopping complexes such as Suriya KLCC and Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur. Most of them expressed their wishes to come back to Malaysia in the future and at the same time to spread the word to their friends on various Malaysia fascinating tourism attractions.
