Envoy Hands Over Aid From PM For Mosque In Sumatera
JAKARTA, March 13 (Bernama) - Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Zainal Abidin Mohamed Zain, Monday handed over aid totalling RM100,000 from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for the Birugo Mosque in the resort town of Bukti Tinggi in West Sumatera.
The aid meant for repair works on the mosque was handed over to the West Sumatera region governor Gamawan Fawzi who then handed it over to the mosque committee head Taufik Rifai'e at a ceremony in the mosque.
The ceremony before zohor was also witnessed by the congregation and officials of the region.
"I handed over the aid from the Prime Minister who fulfilled the request made by the mosque committee when he performed the Friday prayers there not long ago," said Zainal Abidin to Bernama through telephone Monday.
The Prime Minister performed the Friday prayers at the mosque when he attended the annual consultation with the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on 12 and 13 Jan at Bukit Tinggi.
