Malaysia-Vietnam Joint Commission To Meet In
Wisma Putra said in a statement on Tuesday that Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar will lead the Malaysian delegation at the two-day meeting while the Vietnamese side will be headed by his counterpart Nguyen Dy Nien.
The meeting will discuss political and security issues and cooperation in trade, investment, technical, transport, agriculture, forestry and fishing, science and technology, environment, oil and gas, human resource, finance and banking.
The meeting will also discuss the progress achieved and implementation of the decisions made at the commission's last meeting.
Since its inception in 1995, the commission has proven to be a useful and important forum for fostering closer relations and cooperation between the two countries.
It provides both sides the opportunity to discuss and resolve issues that may affect bilateral relations as well as to review, expand and deepen areas of cooperation for their mutual interest.
