APPOINTMENT OF NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES OF MALAYSIA
Two new Permanent Representatives of Malaysia received their Letters of Appointment which were presented by YB Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj. Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs in Wisma Putra, Putrajaya on Monday, 18 July 2016. Also present during the presentation ceremony were YB Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and YBhg. Tan Sri Othman Hashim, Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The new Permanent Representatives are as follows:
Dato’ Amran Mohamed Zin
Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations, Geneva
Dato’ Amran Mohamed Zin started his service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. He was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Turkey since 2014 prior to his appointment as Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations, Geneva.
He was previously the Undersecretary of Southeast Asia Division from 2010 to 2014 and Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2008 to 2010.
Dato’ Amran had also served as Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to the United Nations in New York, United States from 1996 to 2001 and Deputy Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland from 2004 to 2008.
Dato’ Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa
Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN in Jakarta
Dato’ Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa started her service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. She was the Deputy Director General of the ASEAN Malaysia National Secretariat since 2013 prior to her appointment as Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN in Jakarta.
She was previously the Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Rome, Italy from 2009 to 2013.
Dato’ Shariffah Norhana had also served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Vienna, Austria from 2001 to 2005.
