UPDATE: MISSING MALAYSIAN HIKERS AT MOUNT DAMAVAND
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that the remains found by Iran’s Search and Rescue Team (SART) on Monday, 28 November 2016 were believed to be the remains of one of the missing hikers, Tuan Syed Redzuan bin Syed Salim Shatri. The remains were sent to Amol mortuary in Mazandaran Province and will be transferred to Tehran.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Tehran is assisting the transfer and repatriation of the remains. The Embassy together with the hiker’s family members will be travelling to Amol to expedite the process of identification and facilitate necessary arrangements with the relevant Iranian authorities.
Meanwhile, the search for the other missing Malaysian hiker, Ramli Abdul Majid is still ongoing and any further updates will be conveyed accordingly.
