DUBAI, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysians made a beeline for the Aidilfitri open house held by the Malaysian consul-general in Dubai, Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin, recently.
The compound of his rented villa in Al Barsha was a hive of activity as Malaysians basked in the festive ambience, enjoying the food and a chat with friends and acquaintances.
Mohamad Hasrin said the event was supposed to be held earlier but had to be postponed due to work commitments.
The consul-general was pleased at the big turnout, reckoning that about 1,500 people had attended the event.

"It's good to see so many Malaysians able to make it tonight. We celebrated Aidilfitri almost a month ago but apparently the festive spirit has not waned," he said.
The open house was organised in collaboration with the Dubai-based Malaysia Education Promotion Centre (MEPC) whose regional director, Shushilil Azam Shuib, could be seen joining Mohamad Hasrin in welcoming their guests.
