EID ADHA CELEBRATION 2015
MATRADE HALL, DUBAI, UAE

An estimated 600 Malaysian Muslims based in Dubai – thought to be the largest such gathering here in 8 years – filled the MATRADE Hall on Thursday to celebrate Eid Adha, among the holiest events in the Islamic world.

The prayer coincides with the end of hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca observed by millions of Muslims. For centuries, Eid Adha – the “Feast of Sacrifice” – has been observed by Muslims worldwide, who after prayers often sacrifice a sheep, goat or cow, eat a third of the meat, share a third with friends and neighbors and donate the rest to the poor.

The annual event is hosted by H.E. Dato’ Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, Consul General of Malaysia along with Heads of Malaysian agencies in Dubai viz. MIDA, MATRADE, Agriculture, Education Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia. Malaysian professionals based in Dubai were also present at the said function alongside with few Singaporeans.

Malaysian delicacies such as nasi lemak, mee sup, mee goreng and etc were served during the day. The event was a success and will be continued in the future as part of the Consulate’s public diplomacy initiative.
