TEH TARIK SESSION WITH MALAYSIAN EXPATRIATES IN THE UAE

On 27 April 2017, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Dubai together with Tourism Malaysia office in Dubai co-hosted a “Teh Tarik Session with Malaysian Expatriates” at the Taj Hotel, Dubai. The event is one of the public diplomacy programme aimed to support the achievement of Malaysian foreign policy goals and objectives, advance national interests and enhance national security by expanding and strengthening the relationship between the people and Malaysian government.
Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz understood the public’s desire to reach out to the lawmakers in Malaysia and hence he agreed to attend the session and engage with the Malaysians in the UAE. There were no barriers between the Minister and public as he roamed around the area meeting and talking with them. The event was attended by more than 80 Malaysian expatriates from all over the UAE.
Malaysians present were excited and asked questions touching on all angles including the proposed debate with Tun Dr. Mahathir, tourism industry in Malaysia and many more. Overall, the public was impressed with the courage and impromptu reply from the Minister.
The event provided a great venue for Malaysians in the UAE to assemble and engage with Malaysian lawmakers and member of Cabinet and to clear their mind on several key issues played by media.
