On 1st September 2017, Malawakil Buenos Aires organized a reception to celebrate the 60th National Day and the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and Argentina at the Embassy of Malaysia in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was attended by around 150 people consist of diplomats, government officials, Malaysians living in Argentina, business contacts, media as well as friends of Malaysia. The guest of honour of the celebration was the Deputy Foreign Minister of Argentina, H.E Daniel Raimondi.
The event started with the national anthem of Argentina and Malaysia and followed by welcoming remarks by TYT. Dato’ Ambassador. The guest of honour H.E Daniel Raimondi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered a short remark and thereafter the event continued with a live singing and dance performance by in house Malaysians cultural performance.
In his opening remarks, TYT. Dato’ Ambassador highlighted the contribution made by all former Prime Ministers starting from the late Tunku Abdul Rahman to the current Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Abdul Razak for maintaining peace and stability as well as economic growth in Malaysia. On bilateral relations between Malaysia and Argentina, Dato’ Ambassador pointed out that for the past five decades; relations between Malaysia and Argentina continue to enjoy steady progress with the substantial growth in bilateral and political relations, economic cooperation and the people-to-people relations. Argentina is Malaysia’s third largest trading partner in Latin America. He expressed his confidence that in the years ahead, Malaysia under the leadership of Prime Minister Najib and Argentina under President Macri will further guide these close relations to new and greater heights.
For Malaysians living in Argentina, TYT. Dato’ Ambassador stated that the well-being of the Malaysian community in Argentina is the Embassy’s prime concern. Being away from home can sometimes be challenging and Malaysia Embassy is ready to assist and work in close relations with all Malaysians in Argentina under the spirit of 1Malaysia.
In his short remarks, H.E Daniel Raimondi, Deputy Foreign Minister on behalf of the Government of Republic of Argentina congratulated the Government of Malaysia on the occasion of the 60th National Day Celebration and the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and Argentina. He stated that, both sides should take the advantage of vast opportunities available in the trade and investments sectors of both countries on a win-win basis.
All guests were served with authentic Malaysian delicacies specially prepared by HBSs and LRSs under the guidance of Chairperson of PERWAKILAN Buenos Aires. The event was successful in terms of the big turnout and the cultural performance that was contributed by young and talented family members of Malaysia Embassy. Even though the event was organized with limited resources, the outcome was commendable and had captured the main essence of promoting vibrant Malaysia and our rich cultural diversity, `Malaysia Truly Asia’.
