For the 5th year, the High Commission of Malaysia in Canberra participated in the ASEAN Village, which was coordinated by the ASEAN Canberra Committee (ACC), on 17 February 2018, at the National Multicultural Festival (NMF). As an annual event organised by the ACT Government, the year marked the festival’s 22nd Anniversary and was held from 16-18 February 2018.
The High Commission, in collaboration with the Malaysian Ladies Association (PERWAKILAN Canberra) and the Association of Malaysian Muslim Families (AMMF) Incorporated, offered for sale popular Malaysian dishes including roti canai, chicken satay, curry puffs and iced lemon tea. Malaysian products like durian mochi and selected items of Ayam brand were also promoted at the stall.
In addition to food, handicraft and distribution of brochures, there were cultural performances from several ASEAN Member States. Mr. Roslan Rajab’s rendition of the Balik Kampung song had the audience clapping and tapping their feet to the beat.
