The Australian Malaysian Business Council-Victoria hosted the Merdeka Day Reception and Gala Dinner yesterday evening (Tuesday, 3/9/2013). Dinner commenced at 6.30 pm and ended at 10.00 pm and saw the attendance of more than 100 people. It was held at the Marriott Hotel, Melbourne. During dinner, Mr Michael Gidley (MP State Member for Mount Waverley) representing Australia proposed a toast to the King and People of Malaysia. Dato Dr Rameez, representing Malaysia exchanged a toast to the Queen and People of Australia, especially Victorians. Dato Dr Rameez also spoke on the meaning of Merdeka and the need for all of us to realise how important freedom is.
