ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PUBLIC IN THE STATE OF VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
The Consulate General of Malaysia will be closed on Monday (6 February 2012) in lieu of Malaysia’s public holiday to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In Malaysia this event is known as Maulidur Rasul and is celebrated on 12 Rabiulawal of the Islamic calendar. Muslims in Malaysia celebrate this day by attending religious talks, competing in nasyid, azan, and Arabic calligraphy contests, and marching while carrying banners and reciting prayers for the prophet.
