Annual Dinner Consular Corps Melbourne (2014)
The Annual Dinner of the Consular Corps Melbourne was held yesterday evening at the Victorian Public Library (Friday, 5/12/2014). Nearly 250 guests comprised of members of the Consular Corps Melbourne (71- 22 Career and 49 Honorary); leaders of the Labor and the Liberal Parties of Victoria; businessmen; and academicians attended the event which commenced at 7.00 pm and ended at about 10.30 pm. The event saw the new Dean of the Consular Corps Melbourne, Dr Rameez gave a welcoming speech on the need for the members of the Consular Corps to play a more active and innovative role in engaging with the Victorians. Dr Rameez also proposed a toast to the Queen, Government, People of Australia and the State of Victoria. The event also saw for the first time the introduction of the Consular Corps Melbourne Insignia making the Corps the most active and close-knit formal association in Australia. The event also saw the attendance of former Premier Ted Baillieu.
