Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, the Consul General of Malaysia in Melbourne attended the Iftar Dinner jointly hosted by the Australia Intercultural Society and the Victorian State Parliament last week on Wednesday (10/7/2013). The event was held from 5.15 pm till 8.30 pm at the Sofitel Hotel in Melbourne CBD and was attended by more than 200 participants, comprised of the Members of Victorian State Parliament, Police Commissioner, few members of the Consular Corps and members of the Victorian media. The event was to expose to attendees of Australia’s tolerance towards each other and its diversity and multiculturalism. The dinner was also accompanied by the Maghrib Prayer and a Sufi Music performance. Among Members of Victorian State Parliament who attended was Hon James Merlino (Labor Party Deputy Leader for the Opposition).
