Online Passport Renewal

Referring to the media statement released by the Malaysian Immigration Director-General on 17 March 2022, effective 23 March 2022, individuals are able to renew their passports via the Malaysian Immigration Department's website: https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/eservices/myPasport

 

The department introduced this additional method to assist Malaysians in Melbourne and Australia in reducing the passport renewal backlogs post COVID-19.

 

Before applying, please take note of the terms and conditions as follows:

a. Hold valid Long-Term Visa in Australia - e.g. Permanent Resident (PR), Student Visa, Working/ Professional/ Business Visa (issued and recognized by Australia Immigration with at least 6 months of validity period);

b. Clear from Immigration Blacklist/ Suspected List (SL);

c. Do not hold Protection Visa / Bridging Visa A/ C/ E

d. Do not hold dual-citizenship;

e. Not under Australia Border Force (ABF) investigations/ observation/ sanctions; and

f. First time applications, children below 13-year-old and lost/ damaged passport cases are NOT allowed to apply via this platform.

 

•    The whole process of application will take approximately 6-8 weeks, and applicants will be notified via email of the passport collection appointment at the selected office (Canberra/ Melbourne/ Perth) in Australia.

 

•   Note that the passport renewal applications will be assessed based on current guidelines, and the payment made is not refundable.

 

•   The online booking system or Sistem Temujanji Online (STO) will remain in use for new passport applications, lost & damaged passport applications and standard passport renewals. For standard physical appointments, secure your bookings at: http://sto.imi.gov.my/atase/melbourne/
