MELBOURNE, March 8 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian woman who is five months pregnant was detained at the airport here on Feb 10 after she was allegedly found with 34 pellets of heroine in her stomach, the Malaysian consulate confirmed Thursday.
The 36-year-old mother of four from Puchong, Selangor, was taken to a hospital and X-rays showed the drugs in her stomach.
The Malaysian consul general here, Dr Mohd Rameez Yahaya, told Bernama he had spoken to the woman, who is at the Dame Phyliss Frost Detention Centre for Women in Deer Park, about 35km from here.
She told Dr Rameez that a man she met at Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya promised her US$4,000 (RM12,040) if she took the heroine to Australia.
Her case will come before the Magistrate's Court here in July (after the birth of her baby).
Also at the Deer Park detention centre is former Sarawak nurse Beatrice Louis Johie, 27, who is awaiting sentence on March 27 for allegedly importing a quantity of saleable drugs into Australia.
Dr Rameez said he would be visiting both Malaysians at Deer Park next week.
