"MALAYSIAN SONGKET IN AUSTRIA SHOWCASE"

After the successful "Malaysian Kebaya in Austria Showcase" event last year, the Embassy of Malaysia & PERWAKILAN Vienna (Ladies Association of the Embassy), co-organised the "Malaysian Songket In Austria Showcase".
Consistent with the Embassy's commitment to promoting the rich Malaysian cultural heritage in Austria, the event -- also held in conjunction with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship for 2025 & Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign -- was aimed at elevating the visibility of the Songket, which has been inscribed in 2021 on the Representative List of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Our appreciative guests, comprising Ambassadors & colleagues from the Diplomatic Corps as well as Austrian officials & citizens, were fascinated by the excellence in the ornamental decorative style, intricate floral & geometric design & centuries-old technique of the handloomed fabric.
