27 May - As part of the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Malaysia's public diplomacy and outreach efforts, H.E. Ambassador Ikram Bin Mohammad Ibrahim was given the honour to deliver a keynote speech on “Southeast Asia in the Age of Realignment“ at the University of Graz, Austria. The forum was well attended by the university's senior academicians and mostly post-graduate students from various faculties.
The key points of the Ambassador's speech, which was focussed on Malaysia-ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, are as follows:
• Strong economic ties underpin Malaysia-Austria relations.
• The key priorities of Malaysia-ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, in particular to maintain regional peace, stability and prosperity.
• The existing and emerging geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges facing ASEAN and its Member States.
• Malaysia-EU and ASEAN-EU relations, which are largely focussed on trade and investment, and capacity building.
• Malaysia's BRICS membership application is premised upon shared commitment to strengthening multilateral economic cooperation and advancing the Global South agenda.
