50th Anniversary of National Day Celebration in Vienna, Austria, 6 September 2007

Malawakil Vienna celebrated Malaysia's 50th Anniversary of National Day with an official reception on Thursday, 6 September 2007 at a uniquely new location of Florido Tower in Vienna, Austria. The reception was hosted by H.E. Dato’ Mohd Arshad M. Hussain, Ambassador of Malaysia and his wife Datin Tunku Suria Arshad. More than 240 guests comprising of Ambassadors and representatives from the Diplomatic Corps, Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria and other Ministries, President’s Office, Austrian-Malaysian Society Committee Members, Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Austria, private sectors and press/media attended the reception. Selected Malaysians living in Austria including the Embassy’s HBS and LRS also attended the reception. The highlights from the above celebration were a cake cutting ceremony by H.E. Dato’ Ambassador Mohd Arshad and wife and a live cultural performance by the Belgrade-based Malaysian dance troupe.

 

The Embassy is of the view that the event was successful not only in giving

 

the guests a glimpse into Malaysia’s different cultural background and heritage but also in promoting Malaysia in conjunction with the 50 years of nationhood celebration and “Visit Malaysia Year” campaign. T

he event was celebrated in a joyful atmosphere and all the guests were captivated spending the evening enjoying the lively traditional Malaysian dances performed by the Belgrade-based Malaysian dance troupe. The guests had an entertaining and memorable insight into Malaysian culture aside from enjoying the various    Malaysian cuisine.
