55th National Day Reception, 26 September 2012

The 55th National Day Reception was held on 26 September 2012 at the Malaysian Residence. About 260 guests including Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives from various embassies, officials from Vienna-based UN agencies and private sectors attended the event. Malaysians who are living and working in Austria, as well as, all local and home-based staff of the Embassy also joined the celebrations and enjoyed the evening.                                                                                                             

 

 

                                                                                                                                                                 

 

In his opening remarks, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Ambassador Dato’ Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob welcomed all the guests to the reception. He also took the opportunity to inform the guests that Malaysia is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations with Austria.                                                                              

              

 

                             

 

During the event, the guests were treated with varieties of Malaysian dishes such as nasi minyak, beef rendang, fried shrimp, fried noodles, fried beehoon, chicken satay with peanut sauce dan vegetable fritters. An assortment of Malaysian kuih muih such as kuih bakar pandan, bingka ubi, bingka jagung, curry puffs, kek lapis, kek kukus, buah Melaka, wantan, spring rolls and agar-agar were also served to the guests. A selection of beautiful violin songs was played by a Malaysian student, throughout the event to entertain the guests.
