H.E. Dato' Mohd. Arshad M. Hussain, Ambassador of Malaysia to Austria and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations, Vienna hosted a "Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Open House" at the Malaysian Residence on Monday, 21 September 2009 from 1800 hours to 2100 hours.About 150 guests attended the event. The majority of guests were Malaysians working and residing in Vienna. "Friends of Malaysia", the Embassy's HBS and LRS staff and visiting Malaysian delegations in town attended the function as well. |

The event started with short opening remarks by Dato' Mohd. Arshad to welcome all the guests to the function. Dato' Mohd. Arshad apprised guests on the highlights of Y.A.B. Perdana Menteri's Hari Raya message in which Y.A.B. Perdana Menteri called on all Malaysians to demolish the barriers of hatred and instead build bridges to create better understanding and tolerance, in line with the 1Malaysia concept. Dato' Mohd. Arshad also repeated Y.A.B. Perdana Menteri's call to continue the practice of "open house" for a better integration of people from all races into a large family - a 1Malaysia family. |

A wide array of Malaysian Hari Raya cuisine such as Beriyani Rice, Beef Rendang, Chicken Rendang, Nasi Himpit, Peanut Sauce, Beef Serunding and Acar was served to guests. Guests were also treated to an assortment of Hari Raya delicacies such as Wajik, Mixed Tarts, Fruit Cocktail Pudding, Kuih Cara and Agar-agar. |
