27 May – As part of the ASEAN Vienna Committee's (AVC) outreach activities in Austria, H.E. Ambassador Ikram Bin Mohammad Ibrahim and his ASEAN colleagues (Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam) took part in the AVC-Styria Chamber of Commerce (SCC) engagement session in Graz, hosted by the latter's Director, Dr. Karl-Heinz Dernoscheg. The AVC was led by its Chair, H.E. Ambassador Khonepheng Thammavong (Lao PDR).
The AVC received briefings from the following institutions:
i. SCC by Dr. Karl-Heinz Dernoscheg.
ii. Internationalisation Centre Styria, by Mr. Karl Hartleb, Managing Director.
iii. eee Austria International Projects, by Mr. Stefan Düss, Managing Director.
iv. Silicon Alps Cluster, by Mr. Gernet Eder, Site Manager Graz.
v. Tourism Schools Bad Gleichenberg, by Mr. Alfred Tieber, Headmaster.
vi. ANDRITZ Hydro, by Dr. Josef Ullmer, President Director & Regional Executive (Asia Ocenia) and Mr. Alexander Bihlmayer, Vice-President (Business Development - Southeast Asia & Pacific).
The visit served as a valuable platform to deepen the AVC’s understanding of Austria’s regional economic landscape and innovation ecosystem; and reinforced the importance of strengthening cooperation with key Austrian stakeholders, particularly Provincial authorities, Chambers of Commerce and business entities.
