About 230 guests including Ambassadors and Permanent Representative from various embassies, officials from Vienna-based UN agencies, Austrian ministries and private sectors attended the event. Malaysians who are living and working in Austria were also invited. The local and home-based staff of the Embassy also joined in the celebrations and enjoyed the warm and inviting atmosphere along with the spectacular view of the city as well as the Danube River and the Kahlenberg Hill. It may be noted that the reception was held at the 30 th Floor of the Florido Tower (the Embassy is located in the same building on the 24 th floor). | |

Guests were treated to a sumptuous feast of Malaysian dishes which included among others, rice, chicken rendang, noodles, tandoori chicken, savoury pastries and mixed vegetable. For dessert, an assortment of Malaysian kuih such as kuih bingka, lompang and karipap was served. | |

Selections of traditional and modern songs by popular Malaysian artists were played throughout the event to entertain guests. | |
The event started with the playing of the Negara Ku, followed by a short welcoming speech wherein Dato' ArshadI appraised the guests on the current political and economic situation in Malaysia . It was emphasized that although the government had faced some political setbacks recently, the country continued to remain stable, peaceful and harmonious. The economic fundamentals were still very strong as the country enjoyed 5-6 percent GDP growth and continued to draw foreign investors. | |
