H.E. Dato' Mohd. Arshad M. Hussain, Ambassador of Malaysia to Austria and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations, Vienna in his capacity as the newly-elected Chairman of the IAEA Board of Governors made a courtesy call on Dr. Mohamed Elbaradei, Director-General of IAEA at his office in Vienna on 12 October 2009.The meeting with Dr. Mohamed Elbaradei centred on issues to be discussed at the upcoming Board of Governors meeting scheduled to take place on 26 November 2009. They also discussed the Iranian nuclear issue, following the Director-General's visit to Iran on 4-5 October 2009. Among other items discussed was the draft resolution entitled “Report of the International Atomic Energy Agency”, to be debated at the United Nations General Assembly meeting on 2 November 2009.Dr. Mohamed Elbaradei would be ending his 12-year term as the Director-General of IAEA in December 2009 and would be replaced by Ambassador Yukiya Amano from Japan. |
