First Session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2026 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Vienna, 31 July-11 August 2023
1 August – H.E. Mr. Ikram Bin Mohammad Ibrahim, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations (Vienna) delivered Malaysia's national statement during the General Debate of the above meeting.
Malaysia, inter alia, stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of the NPT, called for renewed commitment and progress across its three pillars, urged the nuclear-weapon States to urgently implement their obligations and disarmament-related commitments, and highlighted the need for negative security assurances.
The Malaysian delegation, led by H.E. Permanent Representative, is composed of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Permanent Missions of Malaysia in New York and Vienna.
