MALAYSIA CONTRIBUTES US$405,733 TO THE

ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (IUT)

DHAKA, 13 Nov : Malaysian Government contributed US$ 405,773 to the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).

 

The IUT campus is located at Tongi, about 25 km north of Dhaka city where students from OIC member-countries are studying different technical subjects. The University was established in Bangladesh during early eighties.

 

The Malaysian financial assistance was provided as full settlement of the mandatory contribution of Malaysian government, a member-state of the OIC to the budget of IUT till 2009.

 

H.E. Jamaluddin Sabeh, High Commissioner of Malaysia for Bangladesh handed over the cheque to Professor Dr. M. Imtiaz Hossain, Vice Chancellor of IUT at the High Commission of Malaysia in Dhaka on Thursday.

 

Before the presentation of the cheque, the Vice Chancellor briefed the High Commissioner on the current development and challenges of the university and they exchanged views on other possible areas of collaboration and assistance by Malaysia.

 

The Vice Chancellor also thanked the Malaysian Government for its continuous assistance and contribution to the overall development of the university.
